Collaborative Robotics and Autonomous Systems Track

Track in Collaborative Robotics and Autonomous Systems


During the last decades, advances in robotics had a tremendous impact on human society. Initially, the adoption of robotic technologies revolutionized the industry sector, making it safer and more efficient, causing them to require less workforce while achieving significantly higher production rates. Nowadays, the same revolution started to impact the service sector as well. However, robots operating outside of the well-structured and clearly defined environments of assembly lines have to deal with uncertain and incomplete knowledge inherent to environments populated with humans and other robots. Moreover, many of the tasks required cannot be achieved by a single robot, but only in cooperation with humans and other agents. The requirement of safe and reliable co-operation with others in uncertain environments demands to employ new approaches to robot design, robust perception, spatio-temporal representations, efficient adaptation, life-long learning, human-robot interaction, multi-robot collaboration and swarm behaviour modeling. Furthermore, the introduction of (multi-)robotic systems into human society requires to employ methodologies from humanities and social sciences.
This track aims to bring together researchers who actively contribute to these and related domains to share their insights into principles and technologies that will allow further integration of robots into natural and human-populated environments.
